Contents of lectures
Concept, subject and method of the International Relations: from the International Politics to the World Politics; understanding International Relations: international relations as an interplay between the theory and practise; actors in international relations: concept and classification; actors of the international relations after the Cold War: classification, characteristics, particularities; distribution of power in international relations at the beginning of the 21st century; the balance of power and collective security in international relations; American colossus and its challengers at the beginning of the 21st century; New global security challenges, risks and threats: environment, new global terrorism, proliferation of WMD, energy security,...; different views of the world after the Cold War.

Goal
Course offers introduction to the subject of International Relations, having in mind the interplay between the theory, history and practice. Exploring thestructures and proceses of international system, i.e. taking into consideration enduring features and constant changes that characterize IR, this course deals with the actors of IR, especially states and international organizations, as well as different elements of international system at the beginning of the 21st century. Particular attention is givent to the analysis of the current state of the IR and new chalenges and threats posing before the actors of the international relations today.
