The study program of graduate academic studies "Energy Economics and Management” is the second cycle of higher education in economics, specifically in energy economics and management. The program follows the dynamic changes in the economic environment, meeting the needs of economy and state institutions for new competence and knowledge, as well as for the skills required from a holder of MSc degree in economics. In the circumstances requiring the restructuring of public enterprises in the energy sector and their adjustment and qualifying for market conditions and reliable meeting of consumers’ needs, the need for specific economic and managerial skills in the field of energy supply is crucial in the process of improving the performance of energy enterprises in Serbia. The establishment of master studies "Energy Economics and Management" is an imposing demand of the labor market, on the one hand, and a national need in the energy supply field, on the other. Restructuring of public enterprises in the energy sector and their adjustment and qualifying for market conditions, successful management of public and private companies, building of institutions that govern energy production at the national level and improvement of activities in the regulation of companies all put in the foreground the need for education of human resources prepared to engage in these processes and implement them well.


Goals of study program

The goal of the master study "Energy Economics and Management" is to enable the students to use modern economic and managerial knowledge and tools basing on current theoretical and practical knowledge and international experience in the work of the organization, ownership structure, management, investment management, development of the energy sector, price policy and regulation. The future holders of MSc degree in this field will be made competent to carry out complex economic activities at higher and middle management level in the energy sector, as well as to formulate and implement the policies for energy sector development. Students and graduates of these Master studies will be highly competent experts, trained to manage energy companies and other energy subjects, as well as to successfully participate in complex activities of energy sector regulation. Masters studies are intended for experts who are going to work in the energy sector, at analytical, managerial and executive positions, both on the microeconomic and macroeconomic level.


Outcome of study program

The students completing the study program "Energy Economics and Management" acquire the professional title of MSc in economics for the area: Energy Economics and Management.The student acquires both knowledge in the field of economics of energy supply, organization of energy companies, pricing and tariffs in energy, energy systems, investment management and investment policy in energy, human resource management, quality management, operations management and performance management, and macroeconomic content necessary to address work of formulating and implementing energy policy. At the same time, student gets modern skills of an MSc in economics in the energy sector, required by the market economy. Those skills include modern business skills: the use of concepts, methods and tools of modern management, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, interpersonal relationships, evaluation of results, leadership, analytical skills and distinguishing of problems and finding solutions, operational management, creating business policies, work with complex business software, as well as presentation, negotiation and Internet search skills.


Prerequisite for attending study program
