Upon end of the studies student will receive a title: master in education policy

Study program of master academic studies Education Policy is a joint study program which is carried out at the University of Belgrade and the University of Kragujevac. Study program of master academic studies Education policy takes two semesters and allows students to gain in a year 60 ECTS. Items that are performed within the study program are grouped into compulsory part, a special electoral areas and free electives. In teaching on subjects to be applied: lectures, case studies, teamwork, research projects, group and individual study visits, hosting prominent experts, videoconference teaching (with appropriate technical and organizational support), working in creative workshops, debates, discussions over forums and other electronic services, professional practice.

The aim of the study program is to improve the theoretical and methodological knowledge of students in the field of creation and analysis of education policies, as well as the acquisition and / or strengthening research competencies and academic skills in the field of educational policy.

Study program develops technical basis in Serbia and the region for the development, implementation and monitoring of public policies in the field of education, in a manner based on research and supported by research findings.

From this it follows that a study program aims to educate professionals who are able to independently conduct research in the field of education and educational policy, and that the findings and recommendations of these studies used in the development of specific education policies. This means that the experts in this area are trained to understand the organizational structure of the education system, financing, scope of work, increasing the instruments of righteousness, and effectiveness of education and practical limitations in the process of creating and implementing educational policies.

Students will be able to:

• Implement small-scale research in the field of education and education policy;
• Using literature and evidence-based analysis of major contemporary themes in international education policy, and in particular, the European perspective;
• Monitor and understand the reasons and trends of education changes in the international, national and institutional level;
• Critical analysis of education policies and understand the role and responsibilities of different actors in the creation and implementation of education policies;
• Understand the functioning of educational institutions and the complexity of factors that influence their work;
• Interpret existing analysis related to equity, efficiency and effectiveness of education and based on them devise and plan the implementation of education policies based on research;
• Competent implement and evaluate existing policies at different levels of education and to develop future policy reform in education.

Eligible candidates are university graduates with degree from four year-long bachelor programs (240 ECTS).
